What is a machine? A machine is a device that changes the amount of force exerted, the distance over which the force is exerted, or the direction in which the force is exerted. This website will explain what the six simple machines are. Simple machines make up every other machine we see. Additionally, simple machines make work easier. For example, in a car, there are many machines. It moves because of the wheel and axle. It is held together by screws. As you can see, simple machines are everywhere. There are six types of simple machines. They are:

- Wedges
- Screws
- Wheels and Axles
- Pulleys
